Duplicate lines remover for cleaner text lists

The Duplicate lines remover removes repeated lines from pasted text. Use it to clean a list of labels, links, addresses, search terms, or other entries when each item belongs on its own line. The output keeps distinct lines together so you can review the list without manually searching for repetitions.

How to remove duplicate lines

  1. Place each list item on a separate line.
  2. Paste the list into the Text field.
  3. Select Submit.
  4. Review Lines, New lines, and Removed lines to see the change.
  5. Check the output text and use Copy to clipboard.

For example, entering red, blue, red, and Red on separate lines produces red, blue, and Red. The second identical red line is removed, while the differently capitalized Red remains. This makes capitalization worth checking before treating two entries as the same item.

Prepare your list carefully

The unit being compared is a whole line. Repeated words inside a paragraph are different from repeated lines, so this tool is best suited to lists. A line containing several fields is treated as an entry together; removing duplicate names alone from larger records requires a different preparation step.

Keep the original text before cleaning. Review leading or trailing spaces, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling differences if similar-looking entries remain. Do not remove repeated entries when repetition carries meaning, such as a transaction history or a count of occurrences. A shorter list is useful only when it preserves the information your task needs.

Common questions

Does it put the result in alphabetical order?

Removing repetition and sorting are separate tasks. Use the List alphabetizer when you also need alphabetical order.

What if my items are not on separate lines?

Use the Text separator to prepare a line-based list with an available delimiter. If differences in letter case should be standardized first, review the options in the Case converter. Check the result after each transformation before continuing.
