Password strength checker for comparing samples
The Password strength checker displays a character count and strength feedback for text entered in the Password field. Use it to explore differences between disposable examples and understand the feedback a sample receives.
How to review a test password
- Use a disposable sample that is not a real account password.
- Enter it in Password.
- Review the Characters and Strength values.
- Change the sample and compare the feedback.
A longer example and a short familiar word can receive different feedback. Keep the comparison focused on understanding the indicator rather than treating a favorable label as proof that a password cannot be guessed.
What the feedback cannot establish
A strength indicator is an estimate based on its implementation. It does not prove that a value is unique, has never appeared in a breach, or is suitable for every service. Character count alone does not describe the predictability of a phrase or the way a real account protects sign-in attempts.
Avoid entering an existing account password simply to obtain a label. Choose a distinct password for each account and follow the account provider’s supported protection and recovery procedures.
Common questions
Does this check whether a password has leaked?
No breach-checking feature was established for this form. Do not interpret its strength label as a leak-search result.
Can other text measurements help?
The Character counter measures text length, while the Text size calculator measures data size. Neither measurement by itself proves password strength. Explore the Text tools collection for general text tasks.
