What to check in the source

Look closely at small text and transparent edges in your PNG source. A format change may affect how those areas appear in the final application. Review the AVIF result

This tool uses browser image support. If the browser cannot encode the requested format, the result can fall back to PNG even when its filename has another extension. Check the actual file type before treating it as a valid conversion.

Check that the intended viewer or publishing application accepts AVIF. Compare a representative converted sample before changing a larger set of assets. Check the complete image at a normal viewing size as well as any area where small differences would matter. Keep the source and result together until you have confirmed that the converted copy meets your needs.

Does PNG to AVIF improve the original image?

A file conversion changes representation. Do not expect it to recover missing detail, correct an out-of-focus photograph, or make every image suitable for every destination.

Can I choose another output?
